RN - Emergency Department Night Shift

This role involves providing compassionate and skilled nursing care in a busy emergency department setting, supporting patients through critical and urgent health situations.
Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Emergency Department Director, the RN delivers comprehensive nursing care using sound judgment and clinical knowledge. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments, assisting physicians, documenting patient care accurately, and developing individualized care plans within 24 hours of admission. The nurse will also ensure compliance with nursing standards and legal requirements while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments following approved nursing protocols.
- Provide timely and accurate information to healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Assess, document, and monitor patient conditions using the nursing process.
- Prepare equipment and assist providers during patient examinations and treatments.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, including vital signs, medications, and intake/output.
- Develop patient-specific care plans promptly after admission.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the use of supplies and pharmacy items.
- Participate in orientation, staff meetings, and ongoing training to support team development.
- Engage in special projects and contribute to departmental goals.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
- At least one year of experience as an RN in an emergency room setting is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current and unrestricted nursing license in the state of Washington.
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or ENPC) certifications are required.
- TNCC certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of nursing procedures and patient care principles.
- Ability to apply age-specific growth and development principles to patient care.
- Respect for patient privacy and adherence to HIPAA standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively within a team.
