The Registered Nurse (RN) provides holistic care to patients and their families, performing independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions according to established standards and competencies for the assigned service area. The RN delivers care across the lifespan, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing nursing diagnoses, identifying outcomes, planning and implementing care, and evaluating patient responses. The RN develops and updates individualized care plans, coordinates interdisciplinary care, and appropriately delegates tasks to other healthcare team members.The RN participates in shared accountability and decision-making to improve nursing practice and the care environment, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to exceptional patient care.Specific duties and required clinical skills may vary by assigned unit, with additional expectations outlined in unit-based competency requirements beyond general RN standards.
