GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Join our team and assist physicians and extenders by providing essential medical and clerical support in our orthopedic practice. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to contribute to patient care in various orthopedic settings.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

After appropriate training and demonstrated competency, perform procedures such as wound care, dressing changes, EKGs, suture/staple removal, application/removal of orthopedic casts/splints, administering injections, vaccines, Botox, and assisting with ultrasound procedures.

Coordinate patient care effectively under the supervision of the assigned healthcare provider.

Prepare and room patients in the clinical practice, accurately documenting their health information, history, and medications while ensuring that radiographs are ordered per physician protocols.

Document all pertinent details in the electronic health record and regularly update patient allergies, medications, social, medical, and surgical history as well as pain screenings. Function as a scribe when necessary to maintain clinic workflow.

Educate patients on proper care for wounds, pins, casts, and post-operative recovery as instructed by the provider.

Ensure exam rooms are prepared for patient visits with adequate medical supplies stocked at all times, following established inventory standards. Note that certified Medical Assistants may administer medication with appropriate training and competency.

Travel to various satellite locations as needed to support assigned physician(s).

Take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
-
High School Diploma or GED.
-
Proof of graduation from an AHN approved Medical Assistant Program within five years of hire, or relevant experience determined by the company in lieu of education.

Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure required within 120 days of hire. Newly hired Medical Assistants must complete certification training and/or testing within 30 days.

Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Clearances: Act 34 Criminal Background, Act 33 Child Abuse, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.
Preferred
-
3-5 years of experience as an Orthopedic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
