GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position involves providing compassionate direct care to oncology patients while assisting with unit coordination tasks. As a Patient Care Technician I, you will perform essential nursing procedures for patients in stable condition and support RNs in care for acutely ill patients. Your role will include practicing medical asepsis, maintaining patient dignity and privacy, and adhering to hospital policies. You will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families in a supportive healthcare environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct patient care and document activities including daily living tasks, vital signs, specimen collection, and blood glucose testing. (30%)
Engage in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as shift report and safety rounds focused on falls prevention and cleanliness. (30%)
Document vital signs, weight, intake and output, and report any notable changes in patient conditions to nursing staff. (20%)
Participate in unit housekeeping responsibilities like supply stocking and equipment maintenance. (20%)
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

High School Diploma or GED
No prior experience required; must complete a 2-week training program
Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
Basic math and computer skills
Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
Clearances: Act 34 Criminal Background, Act 33 Child Abuse, Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting

Preferred:

Experience in acute care within the last 3 years
Currently enrolled in an ASN or BSN nursing program, with at least one completed clinical rotation preferred

This position is located at Jefferson Hospital.
