Join a dedicated healthcare team as an Accredited Surgical Technologist providing vital clinical and surgical support in both outpatient clinic and operating room environments. This role involves preparing patients, instruments, and surgical settings, assisting during procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare procedure rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile fields.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient exams, minor procedures, and clinical documentation.
- Position, prep, and drape patients for surgery while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Support the surgical team intraoperatively by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining sterile technique.
- Perform clinical and administrative duties including EMR updates, scheduling, and patient communication.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and supplies following safety guidelines.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain equipment and room readiness.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and staff to deliver efficient, patient-centered care.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required.
Experience:
Experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Nurse is preferred but not mandatory. Extensive military surgical experience may be accepted in place of certification.
Certifications:
Current Surgical Technologist Certification is required unless military surgical experience is demonstrated. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs is necessary. Prolonged standing and alertness during operations are essential.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both physician office and operating room settings, involving frequent interaction with diverse individuals. Exposure to infection, bodily fluids, sharp instruments, communicable diseases, and unpleasant sights or odors is expected.
