Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients of all ages using observational methods and standardized assessments.
- Create tailored treatment strategies that address both immediate and long-range communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions focusing on language, fluency, voice, and swallowing disorders.
- Collaborate closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to ensure integrated care approaches.
- Provide ongoing education to patients and their families to promote progress beyond the therapy sessions.
- Participate in occasional inpatient therapy assessments and interventions, maintaining continuity throughout the recovery process.
- Ensure that records are kept accurately and in compliance with relevant state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
- Engage in continuing education and peer discussions to keep abreast of advancements in the field.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is not yet obtained.
Certifications
- State licensure as a Speech Language Therapist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) awarded by ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
