Summary: Provide essential patient care in a cardiac progressive care setting, assisting with admissions, patient orientation, and daily care routines. Monitor and report any changes in patient condition promptly. Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies to ensure a safe and efficient patient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients during admission, including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
- Respond to patient needs directly or by notifying appropriate staff.
- Support nursing care plans by performing delegated tasks.
- Ensure patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
- Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked environment.
- Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
- Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
- Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry.
Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and guest relations skills. Ability to read and write English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Understanding of age-specific patient care considerations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids possible, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and Nursing Assistant certification required.
