The University of Miami UHealth Department of Cancer Support Services has an exciting opportunity for Music Therapist in Miami. The incumbent engages with adult and pediatric oncology patients, individually or in groups, through therapeutic music activities. The Music Therapist also utilizes musical remedies to treat those suffering from a variety of issues.

Core Job Functions:

• Assess client functioning levels, strengths, and areas of need
• Establish client goals for music therapy treatment
• Analyze client data to draw conclusions or make recommendations
• Gather diagnostic data from various sources
• Design music therapy experiences to meet client goals
• Adapt or create new music therapy assessment instruments
• Plan music therapy sessions to achieve appropriate transitions, pacing, sequencing, energy level, and intensity
• Customize treatment programs for specific client populations
• Confer with professionals on client's treatment team
• Review research or literature in music therapy or related disciplines
• Analyze data to determine the effectiveness of specific treatments
• Select or adapt musical instruments and equipment
• Assess the risks and benefits of treatment termination for clients
• Conduct or assist in the conduction of music therapy research
• Identify and respond to emergency physical or mental health situations
• Write treatment plans, case summaries, and progress reports
• Supervise staff, volunteers, practicum students, and interns
• Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures

Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing: Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
