Job Summary
As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing point-of-service collections. Your role supports patients by providing clear communication, maintaining confidentiality, and facilitating smooth administrative workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, ensuring data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.
- Obtain necessary referrals and pre-authorizations for services.
- Conduct registration interviews prior to patient visits.
- Handle point-of-service collections such as co-payments and co-insurances, including managing daily cash drawer operations.
- Operate multi-line phone systems to respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries.
- Maintain patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality during intake processes.
- Complete daily administrative tasks, including mail processing and workflow improvement initiatives.
- Participate in special projects and support team collaboration.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.

Physical Requirements
